General Project Description
AVANZA JOVEN is a project aimed at strengthening the employability, economic autonomy, and transformative leadership of young people through training and support processes that cross-cuttingly incorporate a gender, human rights, and violence prevention approach.
The project is implemented in the municipalities of La Paz and El Alto, prioritizing youth in situations of vulnerability. It seeks to improve their opportunities for socio-labor integration and active participation in community life by strengthening personal, social, and vocational capacities for autonomous and sustainable development.
AVANZA JOVEN is based on SSF Bolivia's previous experience working with youth, leadership, gender equality, and economic empowerment, articulating lessons learned and methodologies developed in earlier projects.
What do we work on in this project?
AVANZA JOVEN structures its intervention around the following pillars:
• Strengthening of competencies for employability and the economic autonomy of youth.
• Development of transformative leadership, promoting youth participation and community commitment.
• Incorporation of a gender and human rights approach into training and employability processes.
• Violence prevention and promotion of egalitarian relationships in personal, social, and labor environments.
Who do we work with?
The project is developed together with:
• Young women and men.
• Youth in situations of social and economic vulnerability.
• Public institutions linked to youth, employment, and training.
• Social, educational, and community organizations as allies.
• Actors from the socio-labor and training environments.
How did we implement it?
The implementation of AVANZA JOVEN is based on a participatory, educational, and progressive approach that combines:
• Training processes for the development of personal, social, and vocational competencies.
• Guidance and support for youth in their socio-labor orientation and integration processes.
• Participatory and experiential methodologies focused on meaningful learning.
• Cross-cutting incorporation of a gender, human rights, and transformative leadership approach.
• Coordination with institutions and key actors in the territory.
The project prioritizes working from individual development toward collective participation, first strengthening personal capacities to then promote advocacy and community commitment.
Process Progress
Currently, the project is in the implementation phase, carrying out actions such as:
• Training processes with youth on employability and leadership.
• Spaces for reflection on gender, rights, and violence prevention.
• Strengthening of institutional and community networks linked to youth and employment.
• Support for youth in building their life projects and career paths.
Linkage with Other Projects
AVANZA JOVEN is articulated with other processes developed by SSF Bolivia, especially those linked to:
• Youth and community leadership.
• Economic empowerment.
• Prevention of gender-based violence.
These links allow for the strengthening of methodological coherence and enhance the impact of the work with youth in La Paz and El Alto.
Project funded by the La Caixa Foundation.
