Completed Project (January – December 2024)
General Project Description
ACTION was a project aimed at strengthening gender equity, the empowerment of women and youth, and the prevention of violence in the municipalities of La Paz and El Alto. Through educational processes, awareness-raising actions, and spaces for community coordination, the project promoted the exercise of rights, transformative leadership, and the construction of safer and more egalitarian environments.
The project established itself as a comprehensive experience that combined education, social communication, youth participation, and community work, laying the methodological and territorial foundations for the ACTION line subsequently developed by SSF Bolivia.
What do we work on? / Our focus
During the implementation of ACTION I, articulated actions were developed across the following pillars:
• Economic empowerment and personal finance, strengthening capacities for the economic autonomy of women and youth.
• Transformative leadership and youth participation, promoting processes of self-awareness, social advocacy, and community leadership.
• Prevention of gender-based violence, addressing symbolic, structural, and digital violence through educational and cultural approaches.
• Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), promoting the exercise of sexual and reproductive rights, consent, and informed decision-making.

Who do we work with?
The project was implemented with:
• Adolescent, young, and adult women.
• Adolescents and youth from different districts of La Paz and El Alto.
• Educators, community leaders, and institutional actors.
Furthermore, it was developed in coordination with social organizations, youth collectives, and municipal public institutions, as well as allied local organizations.
How did we implement it?
ACTION combined participatory, educational, and communication methodologies, including:
• In-person workshops and experiential training spaces.
• Production of educational and awareness-raising materials.
• Development of communication and digital content.
• Community cinema-forum cycles as a pedagogical tool.
• Spaces for encounter and inter-institutional coordination.
As part of the project’s communication and educational strategy, the podcast “Voces sin Fronteras” was developed. It was conceived as a space to amplify youth voices, reflect on gender equality, and prevent violence through a relatable and accessible approach.
Key results
Among the project's main achievements, the following stand out:
• Capacity building for women and youth regarding violence prevention and the exercise of rights.
• Development of the educational game “ConSentido”, an innovative pedagogical tool designed to address consent, bodily autonomy, and comprehensive sexuality education with adolescents and youth.
• Production of educational materials and communication content with community reach.
• Implementation of cinema-forum cycles and the “Voces sin Fronteras” podcast as spaces for social awareness and reflection.
• Strengthening of community and institutional networks committed to gender equality.
Lessons learned and contributions
ACTION allowed for the identification of key lessons for SSF Bolivia’s institutional work:
• The importance of integrating education, communication, and community participation in violence prevention.
• The value of playful, cultural, and narrative methodologies to address sensitive topics such as consent.
• The need for sustained and coordinated processes within the territory.
• The central role of youth as agents of social change.
These lessons were incorporated and further developed in subsequent projects within the ACTION line.
Continuity of the process
ACTION I laid the methodological and territorial foundations for the development of the following phases of the process:
In this way, the project serves as a key starting point for a sustained process of community work in gender equality and violence prevention.
