« We promote equality, empowerment, and the exercise of rights for women and youth in Bolivia »
Educational and community processes for equality, co-responsibility, and a life free from violence.
What do we work on? / Our focus
At SSF Bolivia, we develop gender-based violence prevention processes aimed at challenging the structural inequalities that primarily affect women, adolescents, and youth. We understand prevention as a comprehensive process that articulates personal, community, and institutional work, with the objective of promoting egalitarian relationships and protective environments.
Our work is based on a gender, human rights, and feminist approach that drives co-responsibility, care, the recognition of diversities, and the transformation of social norms that reproduce violence. Within this framework, we promote the construction of fairer, safer communities free from violence.
As a central part of this line of action, we drive the promotion of diverse, co-responsible, and non-violent masculinities, recognizing the key role of men and masculine identities in the prevention of violence and the transformation of power relations.
Who do we work with?
We develop this line of action partnered with:
• Women: adolescents, youths, and adults.
• Male adolescents and youth.
• Educators, promoters, and community leaders.
• Families and community actors.
• Public, educational, and social institutions linked to gender, youth, education, and the prevention of violence.
How do we do it?
We implement educational, community, and awareness-raising processes based on a gender, human rights, and feminist approach, combining:
• Spaces for critical reflection on inequalities, gender roles, and stereotypes.
• Training in violence prevention and the promotion of egalitarian relationships.
• Specific work with men and youth for the promotion of diverse, co-responsible, and non-violent masculinities.
• Strengthening of community capacities for the detection, prevention, and referral of violence situations.
• Design and production of educational and awareness materials (booklets, guides, campaigns, and communication resources) aimed at violence prevention and cultural change.
Cross-cuttingly, we incorporate the prevention of digital violence, addressing practices of control, harassment, and the reproduction of inequalities in virtual environments, as well as the responsible and safe use of technologies from a rights-based perspective.
What types of actions do we develop?
• Educational workshops and training processes in the prevention of gender-based violence.
• Working spaces with men and youth focused on diverse masculinities.
• Community and digital awareness campaigns.
• Talks, film-forums, and spaces for intergenerational dialogue.
• Training for community promoters and educators.
• Development and dissemination of educational materials, pedagogical resources, and communication content.
• Coordination actions with public institutions and local prevention networks.
