« We promote equality, empowerment, and the exercise of rights for women and youth in Bolivia »
Exchange, mutual learning, and the strengthening of local processes.
What do we work on? / Our focus
At SSF Bolivia, we conceive of volunteering and international cooperation as tools for mutual learning, the exchange of experiences, and the strengthening of local processes, always through a gender, human rights, and social responsibility approach.
Our work in this area is oriented toward connecting people, organizations, and territories, promoting volunteering experiences that contribute to existing community initiatives while simultaneously generating meaningful learning for participants. We understand volunteering as an ethical and educational process that complements—rather than replaces—local capacities.
Who do we work with?
We develop this line of action in coordination with:
• Solidaridad Sin Fronteras Spain, as our founding organization and strategic ally.
• Youth and volunteers interested in cooperation and social action processes.
• Local social and community organizations.
• Educational institutions and partner entities linked to youth, gender, and development.
How do we do it?
At SSF Bolivia, we promote volunteering and international cooperation experiences characterized by:
• Onboarding, orientation, and mentorship processes for volunteers.
• Integration of volunteering into existing projects and lines of work, avoiding paternalistic or welfare-based approaches.
• Emphasis on intercultural learning, the exchange of knowledge, and critical reflection.
• Coordination with technical teams and local organizations.
• Incorporation of a gender and human rights approach as a cross-cutting framework.
These experiences are developed in a progressive and contextualized manner, prioritizing the quality of the process and respect for community dynamics.
What types of actions do we develop?
• Onboarding and mentorship of volunteers within community and educational processes.
• Initial training and support processes focused on gender, human rights, the local context, and principles of responsible cooperation.
• Volunteer participation in educational, communication, and project support activities.
• Spaces for exchange and learning between volunteers, technical teams, and communities.
• Coordination with youth volunteer programs and international cooperation initiatives.
